Craig Street market kicks off on June 12

Parksville’s popular Craig Street Market is gearing up for another season with even more vendors, food and entertainment.

Kicking off June 12, the market runs every Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the foot of Craig Street and is expanding further onto adjacent parking lots and Middleton Avenue.

Run by the Parksville and District Chamber of Commerce, they are expecting more than 140 artisans from all over the Island and Gulf Islands, including a couple dozen drop-in vendors that change from week to week.

“There’s a lot of really high quality art coming this year,” said coordinator Lynda Schneider who is really looking forward to seeing the works of a jeweler who works with arbutus wood, a glass artist and a gourd artist.

There will also be everything from wrought iron work and rock candles to wooden toys.

After last season, chamber executive director Kim Burden said he hears a lot of positive feedback from all over the Island, including at an Island-wide chamber meeting where there were a lot of compliments from other communities.

This year they are creating more of a combined food court, putting the food trucks on Middleton at the edge of the market to pull people in that direction.

Interested vendors can apply at www.parksvillechamber.com or call Schneider on Mondays at 250-248-3613.
