Vancouver folk singer songwriter Chris Ronald is making a stop at Coombs’ Soundgarden on his Vancouver Island tour this Saturday, March 23.

Ronald was born and raised in England and has been creating music since he was 15. When he moved to Vancouver a decade ago he was working toward becoming an elementary school teacher when the history and culture of the country and his new home inspired him to write new music.

In 2004 he recorded his first album, Pacific Time, which was only circulated among friends and family and at live shows. Now it has been professionally remastered and packaged and will be for sale at his Island shows.

His second album released in 2011, Turning Tides, has been given rave reviews by The Georgia Straight and Roots Music Report, and has been aired nationally and internationally on CBC and BBC Radio. He has also performed across Canada and Europe.

Ronald is known for being a skilled singer, songwriter, guitarist and harmonica player,  but he’s also a dynamic storyteller.

Ronald will be performing at the Soundgarden March 23 at 8 p.m., along with blues punk band This is the Shoes, from East Vancouver.

Tickets are $20 at the door.
