Trail riding for a cause
The biggest fundraiser of the year for the Errington Therapeutic Riding Association (ETRA) happens September 22 and pledge collectors are needed.
The Pledge Ride takes horse enthusiasts through the beautiful backcountry in Nanoose Bay and raises money for children, youth and adults with physical and mentally disabilities who take ETRA’s program.
Non-horse riders can also collect pledges for the cause and there will be prizes for top collectors, as well as door prizes and a barbecue on Sept. 22.
The event happens at Arbutus Meadows Equestrian Centre in Nanoose Bay. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. for an hour and the ride starts at 11 a.m. for about two hours.
ETRA is a registered non-profit organization run by volunteers. More volunteers are currently needed to do side walking with the association.
People 19 and older who can spare a couple of hours on a Tuesday or Wednesday can call Karen at 250-754-4962.
The next orientation is Sept. 10. For more information and to download a pledge sheet visit www.etra.ca or call Gina at 250-468-9875.
