An exhibition of paintings by renowned artist Michael Schutte and an eclectic series of african statues by his wife Els will adorn the McMillan Arts Centre for the month of October.

The talented couple relocated to French Creek from Holland recently and opened up a music and art business there. Michael was very well known for his artwork in Holland. He was a pupil of the famous Dutch painter Aart Verwey and won a number of awards. He was even featured in his own TV program.

Els is an award-winning paper crafter and makes eye-catching african statues using recycled materials.

There is a reception for the exhibition at 7 p.m. this Friday, Oct 4 at the McMillan Arts Centre.

The Arrowsmith Art Group, which began in 1998, will also be showcasing member’s work this month. The eight artists and photographers will also be present at the opening reception Friday.
