Performing for a cause
A new pop choir is starting up for youth in the community where performances will reach seniors facilities, hospitals, charities and other good causes.
The group will be called Michael’s Kids for Kids Popstars, a project of Michael Shutte, a former music star in Holland.
“What I’ve got for kids here is if they like pop music and singing and dancing they can do performances in the modern pop style,” he said.
Shutte was a member of a couple different popular bands in Europe and was the director of his own art and music school for 25 years. Some of his pupils became well known in the European jazz and pop music industry.
He has a studio in French Creek where he teaches singing lessons, guitar and keyboard lessons and creates CD’s and DVDs for his students. The choir will sing originals written by Shutte as well as songs from Holland that a similar choir performed and Michael has translated.
The songs will involve important social issues, the environment and health, among other topics.
Michael is currently looking for talent for his choir. Those aged eight to twenty-years-old can audition for the choir and no previous experience is necessary.
