If you’re not already in the Christmas spirit head to the village in Qualicum Beach this Saturday, December 7.

That’s when Christmas in the Village takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Santa Claus, stories, pony rides, cookie and cupcake decorating and more.

Begin your day at 9 a.m. at Bailey’s in the Village for breakfast with Santa. There are two sittings, the other at 10:30 a.m., and tickets for that can be purchased from Baileys by  dropping in or calling 250-752-7584.

Free holiday stories for children 12 and under begin at 10 a.m. and then again at 10:30 a.m. at the Library.

All other activities are free including pony rides beside Dolly’s Home Hardware from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and photos with Santa at Pharmasave from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

Cookie decorating will take place at the Courtyard Cafe from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and people can decorate cupcakes at Cafe Brie during the same hours.

At 2 p.m. families are invited to sing their hearts out at The Old School House Arts Centre, which is decorated with trees, wreaths and winter-themed art.

Many shops around town will be open during the event with specials and savings.

Lilo Kallai from Fresh N Fabulous Flowers said it’s a fun, family event for residents.

“We’re hosting this event to say a thank you to the community for supporting businesses in downtown Qualicum Beach throughout the year.”
