Happy Mother’s Day!
Take mom out on the town this Mother’s Day in Parksville Qualicum Beach, to enjoy flowers, plants tea or even a family swim.
•A Mother’s Day Vintage Market and Tea will take place Saturday May 10 at the Errington Hall. Twenty quality vendors will be set up for mom and daughters’ shopping pleasure and there will be lunch available by Diablo's Vegan Tacos, beverages, treats and a prize basket draw. The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and admission is free. Part of the proceeds will go to the Errington Cooperative Preschool. The Errington War Memorial Hall is located at 1390 Errington road.
•The annual Mount Arrowsmith Rhododendron Society’s Garden Tour is taking place May 10 and 11. This year there are 12 beautiful gardens taking part around Qualicum Beach and Parksville. Tickets for the self-drive event are $15 and are available at local nurseries, Mulberry Bush Bookstores and Milner Gardens. A self-drive map is included in the ticket. The tour is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Proceeds help promote horticultural activities in the area, including a VIU bursary. For more information visit www.mars.rhodos.ca.
•Whisk mom off for a walk through Milner Garden’s woodland trails to enjoy the Rhododendrons at their peak time. Relax in the tea room and enjoy the spectacular views. •Enjoy a family challenge this Mother’s Day at Ravensong Aquatic Centre. From 10 a.m. to noon there will be fun swim challenges and silly games. Regular admission prices apply. Visit rdn.bc.ca/recreation for more on Ravensong.
•Young cake-lovers can head to Thrifty Foods for cake decorating with mom on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thrifty’s is giving away 200 free cakes along with sprinkles and icing for the occasion.
•The Baynes Sound Garden Club is hosting its 15th Annual Plant Sale, Saturday, May 10 at the Fanny Bay Community Hall from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be a wide range of vegetables, herbs, perennials, annuals, shrubs, and more. Admission is free.
