Magnolia Summer Market
The Magnolia Court Summer Market in Bowser is returning for the second year beginning June 11 and residents can expect fresh produce, jewelry, crafts, woodwork, plants and tasty food like artisan breads.
The market will take place every Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the parking area of the court.
Marianne Sadik from Fabulous Focaccia will return with her flat Italian-style bread using B.C. flour and avoiding any artificial flavours of preservatives. And that’s not all she and her husband Sadik make.
“We make balsamic vinegar infusions, chutneys, relishes, tapenades and mustards, anything we can get balsamic vinegar into,” Marianne said with a laugh.
The Sadiks make all of their products at their home located between Bowser and Qualicum Beach.
They sell their products at markets throughout the year and can also be found in Qualicum Beach at the Farmers’ Market and the Uptown Summer Market, and at markets in Lantzville, Campbell River and Ladysmith.
There will be about 20 vendors at the Bowser market, live music by Peter Mason and Friends, food, and most of the shops in Magnolia Court will stay open.
Proceeds from the market will benefit the Bowser Senior Housing Society in its quest to build a local facility.
Last year money was donated to Bowser Elementary School programs.
Marianne said it’s a great market with a supportive atmosphere.
“For a vendor it’s a lovely market to do, it’s very relaxed and I believe the customers enjoyed it because we had a lot of regulars who would return each week.”
Organizer Corinne Roby said she’d like to see the event continue to grow.
“We’re hoping to make it bigger and better, the main goal is to get people aware of what we have here in Bowser and we’re donating [proceeds] to a worthy cause in our area.”
