Bryce raises $10,000 for cancer
Nanoose Bay’s Kingsley Bryce raised more than $10,000 for the B.C. Cancer Foundation, shaving his head while working as a fishing guide at the Queen Charlotte Lodge on the north end of Haida Gwaii.
His aunt Cicely Bryce, a retired B.C. Cancer Agency medical oncologist, passed the story on to The NEWS after her “trip of a lifetime” visit to the lodge when the event took place.
She said Rob Clough, VP of management, offered to raise $500 to shave his head for cancer after 19-year-old Bryce refused to get an overdue haircut.
They turned it into a big event and raised 20 times the goal from guests, owners and staff.
