Fashion show raises more than $3,700 for Forward House in Parksville

Event chooses a recipient non-profit each year

A fashion show has raised more than $3,700 for Forward House in Parksville.

Forward House was honoured to be chosen as the recipient of funds raised at Nov. 17 event, according to Karen Rohats, board chair. The organization was presented with a cheque for $3,000 and gift baskets raised a further $760.

The fashion show, organized by Close to You Ladies Fashions and the Catholic Church of the Ascension, chooses a non profit organization each year to receive event proceeds. The event sold-out and was attended by 130 people.

Gift baskets were donated by Canadian Federation of University Women, Save-On-Foods and Little Qualicum Cheeseworks.

Forward House works with community members to nurture mental wellness and addiction recovery through creative programs, relevant education and community partnerships.

The organization recently opened a new centre in Parksville to help people dealing with addiction and substance use, located at 129 Alberni Hwy.
