Gordon Buckingham thinks there are few better ways to spend Valentine’s Day than curled up with a loved one, watching a romantic movie and munching on sweetened popcorn.
The District 69 Scouts Canada co-ordinator can’t help with the movie, but he and his young charges have the popcorn angle all covered.
“We’ve got a fundraiser taking place on Saturday, Feb. 12, where we are going to sell the rest of our special popcorn,” he said. “Valentine’s day is coming up and so residents have a chance to show their big hearts and buy some popcorn for their loved one.”
The First Parksville Scouts, Cubs and Beavers will be on site at Save-on-Foods at the Wembley Mall and at Thrifty Foods from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We have a variety of flavours and styles,” Buckingham said. “We’ve had people phoning, asking when we’ll be selling it because they like it so much.”
