Vocalist Diane Lines coming to QB
She has been a vocalist and keyboardist for Canada’s king of swing for the past nine years but performing with the Dal Richards Orchestra is just one of the many musical accomplishments of Diane Lines.
The dynamic performer who has shared the stage with many of Canada’s top musicians is sure to be a hit when she performs with two other talented instrumentalists on Sunday, March 11 at The Old School House Arts Centre (TOSH) for Music on Sunday.
The stellar pianist will join Ken Lister on bass and Tony Chamberlist on drums.
Lines was the pianist for Grammy nominated Michael Bublé for two years. She has also recorded and toured with Juno Award winning singer/songwriter Gary Fjellgaard and appears on his CDs Under Western Skies and The Best of Gary Fjellgaard. Her work with Fjellgaard earned Lines consecutive nominations for BCCMA’s Keyboardist of the Year.
Lines has toured extensively in the United States as keyboardist and vocalist for piano virtuoso Mac Frampton and his Hollywood Hills Orchestra. Now based in Vancouver, she is a member of the popular Acoustic Groove Trio with percussionist Tony Chamberlist and guitarist/vocalist Michael Taylor. Lines is featured on four of Dal Richards’ albums.
She has performed on six continents and has appeared with a variety of entertainers including; Jim Byrnes, Les Brown, David Foster, Michael Kaeshammer, Amanda Wood, Bria Skonberg, Marian McPartland, Alfie Zappacosta, Gospel great John Boutte, Rolf Harris and Juno Award winners Gabriel Mark Hasselbach, Shari Ulrich and Kenny Wayne.
Her theatre credits include the Arts Club Theatre’s acclaimed production of Tapestry: A Tribute to Carole King also starring Denzal Sinclaire and Shari Ulrich, and the Firehall Theatre’s production of Stoned Soul Picnic: The Music of Laura Nyro.
Recently, Lines with co-creators Tony Chamberlist and Voni Grindler premiered her new show, JUMP!, a celebration of ‘40s and ‘50s-era swing, boogie-woogie, and jump blues music. She will be performing with the cast of JUMP! in various venues in 2012 taking audiences on a trip through the forgotten years of music between the end of WWII and the birth of rock and roll.
Lines has also released two albums: Trying to Keep Her 88s Straight, a collection of jazz and blues standards (and not so standards) and Diane Lines JUMP!, the companion CD to her new show.
Music on Sunday March 11 goes from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at The Old School House Arts Centre, 122 Fern Road West, in Qualicum Beach.
