American duo play QB
A house concert in Qualicum Beach March 4 features two celebrated American musicians, stopping in for a quick show between shows in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Mollie O’Brien and Rich Moore combine blues and bluegrass and everything in between for some soulful music rife with stirring instrumentals.
They are playing at the Beaton’s house in Qualicum Beach at 7:30 p.m. March 4.
The musical couple married in the early ‘80s and played together in O’Brien’s R&B group, The Late Show. When their children were born, Moore decided to stay home with a nine to five job and O’Brien continued her musical adventure.
Along the way she shared a Grammy Award for True Life Blues: The Songs of Bill Monroe (Sugar Hill) and earned rave reviews at major festivals throughout the U.S., U.K., Europe and South America.
Moore continued his work as a bassist on the side, playing in group’s like Pete Wernick’s Live Five and backing folk legend Tom Paxton in concert whenever he played in Colorado.
Several years ago the O’Brien-Moore nest officially emptied when their youngest daughter Lucy went off to college and the couple decided to do some shows together. Today they are enjoying combining their talents once again, with O’ Brien’s powerful and smoky vocals combined with Moore’s first rate guitar-playing.
Tickets for the show are $20, e-mail email@example.com or get your tickets at the Acoustic Cafe at the Qualicum Beach Rotary House March 1.
