MAC president intent on a true community centre

The McMillan Arts Centre will see more performing arts events in the near future, said new president of the Oceanside Community Arts Council (OCAC), Chris Raines.
“The new board has a lot of energy and we are focused on becoming a true community-based activity centre,” he said.
The OCAC will continue to support the visual arts and will endeavour to increase activities in the building in the evenings, Raines said, in an effort to remain financially independent.
The group has proposed an upcoming street festival and are currently looking at partnering with Vancouver Island University’s Elder College. The OCAC will also aim to make use of different facilities around the centre’s mandated area, from Nanoose Bay to Bowser.
