Music teachers band together

A popular cover band in Nanaimo comprised of three music teachers is bringing its live show to the Shady Rest Pub Saturday, Jan. 11.

Black Flamango was formed by three music instructors from Harbour City Music in Nanaimo over a year ago. Owner of the shop and drummer Mike Harrison approached bass teacher Anatol McGinnis and they recruited guitarist Tom Morris. The trio has been very busy playing around the Island and Gulf Islands ever since. The group has over 100 songs in its repertoire and rocks out everything from classic and modern music to blues, acoustic songs and night club music.

Black Flamango will play from 7 to 11 p.m. on Jan. 11.

The Shady Rest Pub is located at 3109 West Island Hwy in Qualicum Beach. For more on Black Flamango visit their Facebook page www.facebook.com/BlackFlamango.
