Sayuri Kubota has been passionate about playing the piano since she was four years old and she will share that with audiences at the McMillan Arts Centre Jan. 25.

The theme of the piano recital will be Italian music including works by Italian composers and other composers who were influenced by Italy.

Kubota began taking piano lessons at four while living in Tokyo, Japan and although she went to school for teaching she continued playing as a hobby.  She moved to Canada in 1992 and got her masters in education. Kubota resumed  piano lessons when she moved to Nanaimo nine years ago, along with teaching high school math. She now she performs piano recitals annually in Nanaimo and in Parksville.

The recital at the McMillan Arts Centre (the MAC) will take place Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2:30 p.m.

Admission is by donation and proceeds go to the MAC.
