Music, dinner, dancing and cake this Valentine’s Day weekend and beyond

Feel warm and fuzzy this Valentine’s Day, whether that’s from the love in your life, or the jazz and chocolate you indulge in at the Old School House Arts Centre.

A Valentines Cabaret at TOSH will feature award-winning Bermudan/francophone singer Michelle Richard with Ron Hadley on piano and Ross Macdonald on bass. The $20 admission price includes an evening of entertainment and a dessert buffet. The show runs from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 14. Parksville pianist Sarah Wood, along with singer Joanna Finch, will be performing a selection of romantic and rockin’ songs in three languages at a house concert in Cumberland on Feb. 15. The show, called From Paris to Broadway and Motown to Hometown,  is a collection of popular songs from the 1920s to the present. Tickets ate $12 in advance, $15 at the door, available at Village Muse Books in Cumberland and Bop City in Courtenay. For the concert location call 250-218-1689.

A Cappella Plus is presenting its annual Valentines concert of love songs, called Love is in the Air, Saturday, Feb. 22. This will take place at the McMillan Arts Centre in Parksville at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15, $10 for students, available from Mulberry Bush Bookstores and online at www.acappellaplus.ca.

Just Us Dance Orchestra, now in its 20th year of performance, will perform at the Parksville Legion on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. Music will reflect the Big Band swing era and all types of dancers are welcome. Admission is $10 and open to all legion members, guests and potential members.

A Valentine’s Dinner and Dance will take place at the Rocking Horse Pub in Nanoose Bay Feb. 14. There will be a three-course dinner and live classic rock music by duo Paul & Jess. There is no cover charge. For more information visit www.rockinghorsepub.ca or call 250-468-1735.

Spread some love with Singing Valentines from the Tidemen Barbershop Quartet. The group delivers sweets sounds of harmony in offices, work sites, schools and homes throughout Nanaimo and Parksville on Feb. 14.
