Up-and-coming student jazz musicians will showcase their talent at the Malaspina Theatre in Nanaimo April 7, 9 and 10.

It’s Vancouver Island University’s Spring Showcase Concerts featuring music students and guests. Sixty students will be joined by faculty and musical guests for 7 p.m. concerts over the three evenings.

Admission is by donation.

Each of the three evenings has a different musical focus. Jazz combos, the VIU Wind Ensemble and Classical soloists take the stage April 7.

On April 9, the beat is provided by VIU’s Jazz Ensemble and the Nanaimo Music Association’s Big Band.

The College Singers and the VIU Vocal Jazz Ensemble give voice to some great music April 10.
