Register online for Parksville Idol

In celebration of the 2014 sand sculpting theme “A Celebration of Music”, the Parksville Beach Festival Society will be hosting Parksville Idol, a local singing competition open to all residents on Vancouver Island.

With four age divisions, residents can register online up until July 31 and the finals take place on Saturday, Aug. 9 in Parkville Community Park. Up until July 31, voters can select their favourite singers in each category by viewing their video clips. Trish Smith, the Society’s event manager confirms that great prizes are planned for each category.

“We know there is so much talent on Vancouver Island, no matter what age, and we want to celebrate that so we encourage those talented local people to apply,” said Smith.

Parksville Idol is for solo, amateur singers, which is defined as someone whose main income is not derived from singing or someone that has not produced a CD or a record. There will be three age divisions: kids (ages six to 12), youth (ages 13 to 18) and adult (19 +). Contestants must reside on Vancouver Island. This event is co-sponsored by the City of Parksville and the Parksville-Qualicum Beach News.
