Government needs to think outside the box

I was disheartened with reports that the Rusted Rake eatery was ordered to close its doors.

The ALR’s decision, according to the Minister of Agriculture, was based on rules set up by a previous government. Is it not the job of our elected officials to be progressive and positive to improve situations to make things better for everyone?

The owners of the Rusted Rake were working their small farm, providing a popular service and offering employment.

Governments are often faced with economic and environmental challenges that require unique solutions and the Rusted Rake situation is a prime example where the government had the opportunity to think outside the box!

I hope the ALR’s decision to close the Rusted Rake operation was not punitive. If the ALR wants to protect B.C. farmland, give the farmers latitude to make a living.
