How short are voter memories?

Re: ‘Scheer deserves to be our next Prime Minister’ (Letters, Aug. 28)

I can recall letters in which Mr. Hall sang the praises of Stephen Harper. That would be the PM that presided over the sale to foreigners of our great world-class resource companies such as Inco, Falconbridge & Alcan (which included the Kitimat hydro-electric power plants).

The same PM who took over an economy that was actually running budget surpluses which he soon turned into deficits and left office with the national debt much higher. Although higher income earners were even better off.

So now he would like us to elect another right-wing career politician who is a Harper acolyte beholden to the same special interest groups.

I doubt if voters’ memories are that short but we’ll find out next year.
