Message sent was the wrong one

So the homeless break into a vacant Nanaimo school and wreak havoc on the building… $100,000 or more. Tear doors off, holes in the ceilings, drug crap laying around, among other stuff.

It is one thing to break into a facility so that you can spend the night inside. It is another thing to break into the same place and tear it apart. I’m not sure what message they were trying to send but it certainly was the wrong ones for the local taxpayers. Apparently some of these “homeless” persons are professional protesters and came over from the mainland.

Is this an example of some of the homeless we will put up with if 222 Corfield goes ahead? I surely hope not. But, what kind of a review system can keep them out? And then if they get ejected from the facility for their antics, what happens then in the community?

I think the current council was very hasty in going ahead with this project. I truly hope the new council takes a second look at the project and puts the brakes on until more thought is put into it.
