Parksville arts centre opens doors for MacFun Day

The Oceanside Community Arts Council (OCAC) at the McMillan Arts Centre in Parksville is hosting a fundraiser event on June 23 for the whole family called MacFun Day.

Spokesperson Dave Wright said it is a great opportunity to drop in and see what the MAC is all about and meet the people and artists who make the MAC a friendly and welcoming community art centre.

Some of the activities planned for the day include live music, a bouncy castle, kids activities and art demonstrations.

There will be food and refreshments for sale and while admission is free there will be a small charge for the bouncy castle.

Wright said while some members of the OCAC will be painting outside, there will be some weavers doing demos inside and the idea behind the event is to bring awareness to the community about the MAC.

“We want people to come and see what we do.  The MAC is not just an old building with an art gallery,” he said.

He said their art summer camps for children have been very popular in the past and they will have the latest information on the camps as well as registration forms.

The event is this Saturday, June 23 from 11a.m. to 3 p.m. at 133 McMillan Street in Parksville.
