Ansell to replace Morgan as District 69 super

School District 69 (Qualicum) has hired Jim Ansell to replace Candice Morgan as superintendent.

Currently the assistant superintendent in Campbell River, Ansell will start here on August 1.

He was hired by the district, as recommended by a selection committee that included board trustees and representatives from the unions and parent advisory councils.

Morgan announced her retirement in January after eight years as superintendent and 33 years in the district.

Ansell has a broad range of experience as an educator having worked at the elementary, intermediate and secondary levels.

As an administrator, he has been responsible for schools ranging from 30 to 1,500 students and has had oversight responsibilities in curriculum and instruction, special education, aboriginal education and alternate education. He was involved in the strategic planning process and leadership in the Campbell River district.
