Motorcyclist dead after being struck by car near Parksville

PARKSVILLE — The driver of a motorcycle succumbed to his injuries after crashing his bike and being struck by another vehicle near Parksville on April 21.

Police report that at around 3 p.m. on Thurs., April 21, a motorcycle crashed near the intersection of Fairdowne Road and Highway 4A, between Parksville and Errington.

Witnesses, stated police in a media release, said they saw the bike crash as the driver made a left-hand turn onto the highway, into the southbound lane.

A car traveling the same direction arrived at the same time, colliding with the motorcycle and its driver.

The victim was taken to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, where, police report, he died.

Drugs or alcohol, say police, are not considered factors in the incident. The driver of the car was not hurt.

The name of the motorcycle driver has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The crash is still under investigation.
