Parksville residents are invited to an open house as the city marks the national Public Works Week in support of public works professionals May 17 to 23.
City officials decided it was a good time to raise awareness and recognize the impact the engineering and operations staff, known as public works, have on quality of life within the city. Public works will host an open house next Thursday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Our public works staff are responsible for many vital city systems and services on a 24/7 basis; services vital to our community’s health, safety and comfort,” said acting mayor Chris Burger in a press release. “We hope this open house will increase public awareness of the work required to maintain the city’s infrastructure and services.”
The Parksville Engineering and Operations works facility is at 1116 Herring Gull Way in the Industrial Park, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, May 19.
