Qualicum Beach logger killed on the job near Port Alberni
PORT ALBERNI - A 42-year old faller was killed on the job near Port Alberni yesterday.
The accident happened at approximately 9:45 a .m. and occurred near Nitnat Lake, RCMP watch commander Brady Mathison said.
Emergency crews attended the incident but "The man died as a result of injuries sustained in a logging accident," Mathison said.
No specifics regarding the incident were known yet, he added.
The man was a Qualicum Beach resident and was a subcontractor working for Western Forest Products, Mathison said.
Police and the coroner have handed the investigation over to the Workers Compensation Board.
