District 69 schools to receive lighting upgrades
School District 69 (Qualicum) is awarding a $184,388 lighting upgrade contract for three elementary schools to Houle Electric through BC Hydro’s Power Smart program.
Earl Billingsley, district operations and maintenance manager, told the board they are getting government incentives through the program, which provides it’s own list of approved contractors.
They sent the tender to four companies and received three responses ranging from Houle as the low, up to $239,212.
It was reviewed by Qualicum Lighting Inc. the district’s electrical consultant and Billingsley said all conditions were met.
The upgrade work will be done at French Creek, Parksville and Winchelsea elementary schools over the summer.
