No smart meters here - yet

It appears that Barry Avis was right all along.

In the debate Sunday to determine the NDP nomination for the Parksville-Qualicum riding, Avis said there were no BC Hydro smart meters being installed in Oceanside, a claim that was denied by his opponent, Leanne Salter.

However, BC Hydro spokesperson Ted Olynyk, contacted Thursday, said Hydro has no plans to begin installation of the controversial wireless devices until March, 2012.
