Fire damages house in French Creek
FRENCH CREEK - Smoke billowed from the roof of a house in French Creek Wednesday morning, as firefighters rushed in to get a fire under control.
Firefighters from Parksville and Qualicum Beach responded to calls of smoke coming out from under the house's roof at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. The home, on Barclay Crescent, was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
A passer-by said he saw the smoke and entered the home to make sure no one was inside. He added he notice a back window was open, saying he then used the garden hose to start fighting the fire — which he said seemed to be coming from the kitchen area.
