Parksville-Qualicum MLA Ron Cantelon will run in the next provincial election on May 14, 2013.

He made the announcement Wednesday during a visit to the Oceanside Health Centre construction site in Parksville by Premier Christy Clark.

"This is a tribute to Ron and all the work he's done over the years," she said gesturing to the construction. "He's been working toward this even since before he was involved in politics."

Cantelon has been coy on the question since suffering a heart attack last year, but said he is feeling great and looking forward to continuing his work for the area.

"I love the job, I love what I'm doing and I love to get things done," he told The News.

He said there are a number of projects he wants to see through like the "parkway trail" in Parksville, work on Memorial Drive in Qualicum Beach, and the completion and then eventual expansion of the health centre.
