Speech contest season ramps up for fall
It is speech-contest season for Toastmasters International and a local winner at the recent area contest in Nanaimo will compete against other regions at the Coombs Fairgrounds on Saturday from 1-4 p.m. and guests are welcome.
Ceri Peacey of Arbutus Toastmasters in Parksville scored first place in the Table Topics Contest with her delightful rendition of traveling over New York City in a hot air balloon. She’ll be competing against Table Topics winners from the mid and north Island and Powell River in Coombs.
Kirk Walper also from Arbutus Toastmasters placed second in the Humorous Speech Contest.
