Tipping fees at transfer station up to $6

The Regional District of Nanaimo has given provisional approval to a rise in the solid waste tipping fees for the coming year.

At the monthly committee of the whole meeting, directors agreed to increase tipping fees at the Church Road transfer station from $5 to $6 for anything under 50 kilos. In a report to directors, Maggie Warren, the superintendent of scale and transfer services, said the RDN has managed to reduce the amount of solid waste processed in the district by 25 per cent.
