New QB development guide hits the streets
Want to add a garage to your home in Qualicum Beach? Thinking about constructing a commercial building for your business in the Village Neighbourhood? Want to subdivide your land?
The Town of Qualicum Beach has released the 2013 Guide to Development and Construction and town staff say they welcome public feedback to improve this information resource.
The Guide to Development and Construction provides builders, developers and homeowners with a user-friendly approach to the planning approval process in Qualicum Beach, said a news release from the town. Each of the 15 reference sheets includes a concise summary of one aspect of the development process with references for more information.
“The goal of this guide is to clarify requirements and answer frequently asked questions from builders, developers and homeowners,” said Luke Sales, director of planning for the Town of Qualicum Beach.
“We want to make sure we get it right and welcome further input from users as we will regularly update the guide going forward.”
In a interview this week, Sales said the goal in developing the 32-page guide was to make something “clear and concise.” Residents and developers alike will be able to find definitions and explanations of the processes related to zoning and various permits, he said.
“The planning and approval process can be confusing and this kind of guide has been missing in the past,” said Sales.
Sales said town staff wants to get feedback on the guide before printing any copies. The guide is available online at www.qualicumbeach.com and hard copies will be available at the town offices soon.
