Having fun while learning
A tea party at Arrowview Elementary School Thursday was all bright, with oversized hats, giant cards, funny costumes and a big white rabbit.
That's because it was a Mad Hatter's Tea Party, a celebration of Building Learning Together's (BLT) Mother Goose Goes to School Program, now back after the holidays in schools around the district.
The program stopped in for a party at each of the elementary schools in the district last week.
Young children got to do a little tour of the schools, collecting pieces for their own funny hats in locations around the schools.
Mother Goose Goes to School is a free educational program for young children (under 6) and their parents, guardians and caregivers, allowing them a bonding experience filled with rhymes, songs and storytelling.
Kids get to interact with other children, participate in interactive activities, and can get school library cards for their own take-home reading.
The program helps young children and their parents and guardians get to know their neighbourhood school and also helps with transitioning young children to the school experience, among other educational benefits.
