Doug Taylor mourned
Qualicum Beach has lost one of its leading lights.
A dedicated and community-minded volunteer, Doug Taylor passed away on Feb. 12.
Taylor was well-known in the community for his work in many areas, including service with the Qualicum Beach Residents' Association — of which he was a founding member — Citizens on Patrol, the Qualicum Beach Curling Club, Qualicum Beach Streamkeepers and the Ocean Mile Swim, among others.
"He was one of the most engaged and active volunteers in the community," said Qualicum Beach Mayor Teunis Westbroek. "With Doug, what you saw was what you got. We've lost a great volunteer in the community."
Qualicum Beach Residents Association president Bill Adkins agreed.
"Doug was a dedicated and inspiring participant in our work and always reminded us of our mission to serve the interests of the residents of Qualicum Beach, a community which he loved," he said.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre, next to the swimming pool, on Saturday, March 2, starting at 11 a.m.
Everyone who knew Doug Taylor is invited to come and share their thoughts and memories of him.
