If there was one event that could truly be said to be a harbinger of spring, it would have to be the opening of local farmers markets — and that’s exactly what is happening in Qualicum Beach this weekend. The market, held at Veterans Way and Memorial Ave. in Qualicum Beach, kicks off on Saturday, March 2, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Whether you’re visiting for the first time, or are a life long resident, the market is where you’ll find the best in fresh fruits, vegetables and berries, plants and cut flowers, fresh baked goods, jams and jellies, fish, chicken and pork, as well as a wide range of local crafts.
