Another OCP open house added
The City of Parksville's two recent open houses introducing the updated official community plan (OCP) were successful enough that another has been added and the time frame for providing feedback extended.
During Monday's city council meeting, Mayor Chris Burger said the third open house is being added because of the high level of interest, which saw 140 people attend the information sessions last week.
Along with another afternoon drop-in open house from 2 to 7 p.m., they are adding a morning session from 9 a.m. to noon (both March 11) focusing on community groups and organizations, though Burger said both are open to anyone.
Staff from city departments will be present at themed stations with large maps and handout materials for viewing and discussion.
The draft is available on the city's website (www.city.parksville.bc.ca) and at the planning department counter in the PCTC (city hall).
The deadline for public comments on this first draft has been extended by a week to March 21 before a second draft is presented to council in April.
