Police say slippery road conditions contributed to a single-vehicle crash in the Nanoose Bay area of Claudet Road and Northwest Bay Road on the evening of Dec. 1.

Members of the Oceanside RCMP and the Nanoose Bay Fire Department attended the incident that happened at around 5:30 p.m. Police reported that the vehicle slid into the ditch and rolled onto its roof. There were minor injuries to the two occupants and the vehicle was towed from the ditch.

“Road conditions are a contributing factor in this crash as they were slippery and the temperature was below freezing,” said Sgt. Shane Worth of the Oceansdie RCMP Detachment. “No charges are being considered.”

At this time of year and with the recent snow and freezing temperatures, Worth said that motorists are encouraged to drive according to the ever changing weather and road conditions, give themselves more time to get to their destination and to consider having winter tires installed on their vehicles.
