Parksville Salvation Army Thrift Store flooded
Heavy rains and plugged roof drains caused havoc for the Salvation Army Thrift Store on West Island Highway in Parksville Friday night.
Employees were shocked and surprised Saturday morning to find the back half of their store badly flooded, said Salvation Army officials, who added that store manager Dave Burns acted quickly to get the water out, but the damage was already done.
Salvation Army officials said they were told it could take anywhere between three to six weeks to dry out and be repaired. The Salvation Army said its main goal right now is to find a warehouse or a large space, so that they will be able to continue to receive donations and keep their permanent staff working.
