Re/Max First Realty of Parksville has been sold to a company that now boasts nine offices in Western Canada, including Re/Max Anchor Realty in Qualicum Beach.

Ian Lindsay and Frank Fairley, principals of Re/Max First Realty of Parksville, announced Monday the sale of their company to Re/Max 100% Realty Associates Ltd., operating as Re/Max of Saskatoon, effective immediately.

A news release issued Monday said Re/Max First Realty is a well-known, successful, top-production real estate company.  In 2007, the office was awarded the Broker Owner Office of the year for Western Canada.  The release said their realtors are acknowledged leaders in the industry and have been awarded consistently for their success, and the office is "well known for both the individual realtor and its team approach to community involvement in their ongoing support of various charitable causes within the district."

New owner Larry G. Stewart said he pleased to be able to add Re/Max First Realty to his group of Re/Max companies. With this acquisition, the news release said Stewart now owns nine Re/Max franchises with more than 200 realtors across Western Canada.  Earlier this year, Stewart purchased Re/Max Anchor Realty in Qualicum Beach.  He said he sees the Parksville Qualicum Beach area as one of the most sought-after destinations in Canada in the coming years.

"The Re/Max referral network is the most effective system available to assist people in finding or selling their home," said Stewart. "With our nine offices and over 200 realtors, we will be able to expand on the success of Re/Max and its brand awareness worldwide.  This additional Western Canadian network will maximize result opportunities for all of our clients whether buying or selling."

Stewart also said he looks forward to expanding its professional group of realtors within the region.

The news release said both Lindsay and Fairley will continue to remain active in their residential, development and investment real estate business with Re/Max First Realty in Parksville.
