North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre looks for votes online

North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre is gearing up for another season and they need your help.

NIWRC has been shortlisted for Nature's Bounty's Canada-wide competition calling for the best charity.

The online competition is based on votes and according to administration director Amy Andreasen, the non-profit organization could really use it.

"We would put the money towards revamping our intensive care area." said Andreasen. "We're still using the original buildings from the 1980's so it would mean a lot."

Andreasen said the intensive care area is "the heart of our organization" as it is where rescue animals are rehabilitated and nursed back to health before being released back into the wild.

Andreasen said NIWRC sees hundreds of animals each year.

The Nature's Bounty competition offers cash prizes of $5,000, $10,000 and $15,000.

NIWRC is based in Errington and re-opened Monday after being closed for three months during winter. Doors will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily until December.
