Qualicum Beach man charged with attempted murder

RCMP say 44-year-old Robert Gordon Davidson of Qualicum Beach has been charged with attempted murder, assault causing bodily harm and breach of recognizance in relation to an incident Friday.

"Davidson is being held in custody and will make his next appearance in Nanaimo Provincial Court on March 25," said Foreman.

On Friday, March 7 police responded to an incident in a rural area outside Qualicum Beach where they found a 66-year-old man suffering from "severe" injuries resulting from a serious assault at his residence, according to an RCMP-issued news release.

Dashwood Volunteer Fire Department Lieutenant Dick Shantz, who also attended the incident, confirmed the victim is a quadriplegic.

The victim was airlifted to Victoria General Hospital and remains in serious condition, according to police.
