Police dog does its job in Parksville
A 25-year-old Parksville man is in custody after allegedly breaking into a residence on Shelly Road this week.
RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman said police were called to the scene at approximately 12.45 a.m. on July 14 after the owner of the residence was woken up by loud noises.
"He found a male intruder that had entered through a screened window and was still in the home," said Foreman. "The man then fled out the front door when confronted."
Foreman said nothing was stolen from the residence.
He said RCMP and a police dog dispatched from Courtney attended the scene.
"A track was established and the police dog located the suspect who had hidden in nearby bushes," said Foreman. "The suspect was arrested without incident and identified."
Foreman said the man in custody is known to police and RCMP are recommending two charges: one for break and enter and one for breach and undertaking.
The man is scheduled to make a court appearance in Nanaimo Provincial Court July 22.
