A fire at Sandcastle Bakery on the old Island Highway is still under investigation.

Parksville Volunteer Fire Department assistant fire chief Mike Tisdelle said fire crews were called out to Sandcastle Bakery (897 W. Island Highway, Parksville) on Thursday (April 27) at 4:50 p.m.

The cause of the fire, Tisdelle said, is still under investigation and fire crews were heading back out to the location this morning (Friday).

Tisdelle said it’s undetermined how much damage was caused, but it’s mainly to the rear of the structure.
