For those heading into Port Alberni or Tofino this morning, the commute might be a little slow.

A massive backup on Highway 4 resulted after a semi-trailer rig broke down at the bottom of the hump, just before the passing lane. Traffic was backed up nearly to Cathedral Grove as of 8:30 a.m. April 27. At that time, no two truck or traffic service had yet arrived at the scene.

At approximately 9 a.m. Port Alberni’s PEAK 93.3 FM radio station reported single-lane alternating traffic was moving intermittently on the highway.
