Pursuant to Sections 464, 465 and 466 of the Local Government Act, the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) advises of a public hearing regarding an Official Community Plan (OCP) and Zoning Amendment for “Regional District of Nanaimo Electoral Area ‘G’ Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw No. 1540.05, 2023” and “Regional District of Nanaimo Land Use and Subdivision Amendment Bylaw No. 500.441, 2023”.

PURPOSE OF THE BYLAWS
The general purpose of the proposed bylaws is to amend the Electoral Area G OCP and rezone the subject properties to accommodate near-term and long-term expansion requirements of the French Creek Pollution Control Centre. The proposed OCP amendment bylaw also includes designating an area adjacent to French Creek as Park Land/Green Space/Natural Area for the purpose of riparian protection and potential future community trail use.
HAVE YOUR SAY
All persons who consider their interest in property to be affected by the proposed bylaws shall be afforded an opportunity to be heard in person, or by written submission, at the public hearing. Written submissions can also be provided in advance of the public hearing and must be received at the RDN Administration Office by 4:00 p.m., February 15, 2024, to ensure their inclusion in the public record. Written submissions may be submitted by email to planning@rdn.bc.ca or by mail or in person to 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo, B.C., V9T 6N2.
WHERE CAN I INSPECT THE DOCUMENTS?
A copy of the proposed bylaws and relevant documents may be inspected at www.getinvolved.rdn.ca/pl2023-045, at the hearing or at the RDN Administration Office up until February 15, 2024. The office is located at 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo, B.C., open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding public holidays.
The public hearing for these bylaws will be chaired by Director Wallace, or her alternate, as a delegate of the Board.
