Alan Geoffrey Woodhouse

(a.k.a. “Woody”)

March 19, 1936 – January 18, 2017

Survived by his wife Sandra, three Children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandson. Predeceased by his brother Terry, son Scot, and grandson David.

Alan had a long and varied career all over the Province. He served as both a professional and volunteer firefighter / ambulance attendant first in at the Tadanac Fire Dept. in Trail BC, in Port Alberni and later served as Volunteer Fire Chief and paramedic in Port Hardy. At the same time he was also employed as personnel manager for M&B. In 1978, he transferred to Menzies Bay and later Gibsons. In 1986, Alan took a position for Parks Canada as Highway Supervisor and later took on the position of resort manager / part owner of Ocean Village Beach Resort in Tofino BC. In 2002, he retired to Parksville with his dear wife Sandra, with whom he survived 58 years of marriage.

Woody enjoyed his happy hours with his “buddies” and was known to tell a tale or two!

He loved travelling, cruising, music, beer, and buffets (not necessarily in that order).

The family would like to thank Dr Ontko, and the team at Nanaimo Hospital and also thank Dr Henderson, Dr Weir and the ambulance attendants.

A wake will be held at a later date, in lieu of

flowers, please make a donation to your
