Alan Gordon PADGHAM

June 3, 2009

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Alan Gordon Padgham of Qualicum Beach at Eagle Park Health Care Facility

on June 3, 2009. He was 83.

Alan was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan on June 16, 1925, to Albert and Annie Padgham, where he grew up. Alan left home when he was 16 and eventually joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. He moved to Vancouver BC following his military service and married June Dorothy Ferguson (who pre-deceased Alan on May 5, 2009) in 1947. Alan worked for Canadian Telephone and Supplies for 40 years. He and June raised their family in Burnaby BC before retiring to Qualicum Beach in 1984.

Alan is survived by his sons David (Debbie) of Sechelt, Robert (Alice) of Nanaimo and daughter Maureen (Ted) Salhany of Port Coquitlam, as well as brother Victor of Chilliwack BC and sister Doris McIntosh of Biggar. He also leaves behind grandsons Matthew (Brandee, great grandchildren William and Madison) of Hungry Horse Montana, Jens, Phillip, and Elliot Padgham of Nanaimo, and Ryan Salhany of Port Coquitlam. He was pre-deceased by brothers, David, Sid and Stan Padgham. Alan will be greatly missed. His strong work ethic, determination and sense of humour have been an inspiration to us all.

A celebration of Alan and June’s lives will be held on June 14 at their home in Eaglecrest, beginning at 2:00 p.m. All friends and family are warmly invited to attend.
