Al and his family emigrated to Canada in 1929. They settled in Nanaimo for a time them moved to Courtenay and than on to Vancouver.
Al joined the Armed Forces and served in England and Holland during World War II. After returning, he joined the Vancouver Fire Department, attaining the rank of Captain. He was a resident of Parksville at the time of his death. He has always led an active Christian life and was an ardent fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by his two brothers, George (Arlene) and Ken (Isabel); his former wife, Mary; daughter Diane, several nieces and nephews and his godson, Randy Shea.
A memorial service is planned.
